Terms of Service

Bible-StudyGuide

Last updated: 17 August 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and CRIBINC for the use of Bible-StudyGuide — the web app at app.cribinc.com and the Bible-StudyGuide app for iPhone and iPad. By creating an account or using the app, you accept them. How we handle your information is set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of this agreement.

What the service is

Bible-StudyGuide is a tool for studying Scripture: you gather sources into volumes, and AI models write insights, lessons and devotionals from them at your request. It is a study aid. It is not a teacher, not a commentary of record, and not a substitute for your own reading.

Your account

You need an account, and sign-in is handled by Clerk. Give accurate details, keep your credentials to yourself, and tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has got into your account. You are responsible for what happens under it. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and in any case Bible-StudyGuide is not for children under 13.

Subscription and price

Bible-StudyGuide is a paid subscription, billed through Stripe:

  • $9.99 per month, or
  • $79.99 per year.

Prices are in US dollars and do not include any tax that may be added at checkout. The price and billing interval that apply to you are always shown on the checkout page before you pay — that page is authoritative, and if what is written here has fallen out of date, the checkout page governs. We may change our prices in future; a change never applies to a period you have already paid for, and we will give notice before it takes effect for you.

A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, at the then-current price for your plan, until you cancel.

The free trial

New subscriptions start with a 7-day free trial. Be plain with yourself about what that means: the trial converts into a paid subscription automatically when it ends, and your payment method is charged then. Nothing further is required of you for that to happen. If you do not want to be charged, cancel before the trial ends — you keep access to the end of the trial either way. The trial length in force is shown at checkout.

Cancelling, and refunds

Subscriptions bought on the web are managed in the app at app.cribinc.com, which opens Stripe’s billing portal — cancel, change plan, or update your card there. You can cancel at any time. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not cut short the period you have already paid for, and your access continues to the end of it.

We do not refund part-used periods automatically. If something has gone genuinely wrong — you were charged twice, or charged for something you could not use — write to [email protected] and we will deal with it fairly. Nothing here removes a refund right you have under the law where you live.

If a subscription is ever offered as an in-app purchase through Apple’s App Store, that purchase is billed and managed by Apple, and its cancellation and refund terms are Apple’s, handled through your Apple account — not through us.

Bring your own key

Bible-StudyGuide runs the AI work on an API key you supply for the provider of your choice. That arrangement is yours, and so is what comes with it:

  • You are bound by your provider’s own agreement — their terms, their acceptable-use rules, their privacy policy.
  • You pay your provider’s charges. Your CRIBINC subscription does not include model usage, and we do not set, control, or reimburse what a provider bills you.
  • Your provider may rate-limit you, refuse a request, change its models, or withdraw access, and we cannot overrule any of that.
  • Keep your key secure and use one you are entitled to use. We hold it encrypted, as described in the Privacy Policy, but the account behind it is yours.

AI-written insights can be wrong

This matters more here than it would in most apps, so we will not dress it up.

Insights, lessons, devotionals and answers written by an AI model may contain errors. A model can misread a passage, misattribute a quotation, invent a citation, flatten a difficult text, or state something confidently that is simply not so. It has no discernment and no accountability. Treat every word it produces as a draft to be checked against Scripture itself, not as a finding.

What the app writes is not a substitute for your own study, and it is not pastoral, theological, spiritual, legal, medical, financial or other professional advice. If you are preparing to teach, verify before you teach. If you are facing a decision or a difficulty that matters, take it to your pastor, elders, or an appropriate qualified professional — not to a language model. You remain responsible for anything you publish, teach, or act on.

Where the app lets you set a doctrinal or theological framing, that is a setting you have chosen; it shapes how a model is prompted and is no guarantee that its output is sound.

Your content stays yours

You own what you put in and what you write. Your sources, notes, volumes and insights are yours, and this agreement transfers no ownership of them to us.

You grant CRIBINC only the licence we actually need to run the service for you: to store, copy, transmit, index and display your content so the app can work — including sending it to the AI provider you have chosen when you ask for an insight, extracting text from files and links you add, and creating the embeddings that make your sources searchable. That licence is limited to operating and supporting Bible-StudyGuide for you, is non-exclusive, and ends when you delete the content or your account, save for backups and logs that age out in the ordinary course. We do not use your content to train our own models, and we do not licence it to anyone else.

You are responsible for having the right to use what you upload. Do not add material you have no right to copy, and remember that scanning or uploading a copyrighted book does not make it yours to redistribute.

Acceptable use

Use the app for study, teaching and personal work. Do not:

  • break the law with it, or infringe anyone’s rights;
  • upload content that is unlawful, or that you have no right to upload;
  • use it to produce material intended to harass, defraud, defame, or incite violence against anyone;
  • attempt to break, overload, probe or work around the service’s security or its limits, or get at another user’s account or content;
  • resell the service, share one account across many people, or run it as a back end for your own product;
  • scrape or bulk-extract from the service by automated means beyond your ordinary use of the app;
  • use it in a way that breaches your AI provider’s acceptable-use policy.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Where it is reasonable to do so we will warn you first and give you a chance to put it right; for serious or unlawful conduct we may act immediately. If we close your account for a breach, we may keep the balance of your current paid period.

Availability

We work to keep Bible-StudyGuide up and running, but we do not promise it will be available without interruption. It depends on services outside our control — your AI provider, Clerk, Stripe, our hosting — and any of them can fail or change. We may take the service down for maintenance, change or withdraw features, and we may discontinue the product; if we discontinue it, we will give reasonable notice and a way to get your content out.

Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose. We take reasonable care with your data, but no service is proof against loss.

No warranty

To the fullest extent the law allows, Bible-StudyGuide is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied — including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or that the service or anything a model writes will be uninterrupted, secure, accurate, complete, or free of error. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this may not apply to you.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, CRIBINC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, nor for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, or loss of goodwill, arising out of your use of Bible-StudyGuide — including anything that follows from relying on AI-written output, or from what your AI provider does with text sent under your own key.

To the fullest extent the law allows, CRIBINC’s total liability for all claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or US$100.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited — including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version always lives on this page with its date at the top. For a material change we will give notice — in the app or by email — before it takes effect, and continuing to use the service after that is your acceptance. If you do not accept a change, cancel your subscription and stop using the app.

Termination

You may stop using Bible-StudyGuide at any time, and ask us to delete your account at [email protected]. We may terminate this agreement if you breach it, or if we discontinue the service. The sections on your content licence, no warranty, limitation of liability, and governing law survive termination.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the state and federal courts located in Ohio have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. If the law where you live gives you the right to bring proceedings locally, this does not take it away.

General

These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us about Bible-StudyGuide. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest stands. Our not enforcing a provision on one occasion is not a waiver of it. You may not assign this agreement without our consent; we may assign it in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
